Who am I?

Who am I?

My name is Joy and I’m a qualified person-centred counsellor.

I work with individuals (aged 11+), couples and families who feel they need that extra bit of support whilst dealing with issues such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, stress, relationship problems, bereavement, or who have experienced sexual or domestic abuse, whether that’s historic or current.

I have Diplomas in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB),  Counselling Skills (Cambridge Open College) and Working with Children & Young People.  I also have an Advanced CBT Diploma.

I previously worked as a counsellor at The Blue Door & Casy, but have mainly worked in private practice.  I was a befriender to the families of patients at Blue Bell Wood, and a mentor to Counselling students.  My previous career was predominantly in administration and office management.

I have three wonderful West Highland Terriers who keep me busy and entertained.  I like to cycle, walk, listen to classical music, enjoy a good cake and hot cup of Earl Grey tea.

I am a registered accredited member of the NCS (National Counselling Society), and subscribe to Psychology Today and the Counselling Directory.  I have a current & clear DBS.  I also attend supervision once a month with a qualified therapeutic supervisor.
